Remote Learning

As a school we prioritise daily attendance for all pupils and work closely with families to ensure pupils attend regularly and receive a full education.

There may however be circumstances where pupils are not in school and where it is right for the school to provide remote learning.

These include:

1 school closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted

2 individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn

Providing remote learning

1 Where the school has forced closure due to unforeseen or emergency circumstances (including but not limited to fire, flood, snow, systems breakdown, etc.) we will provide home education from the second day of closure for the duration of the closure.

2 Individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn include:

  1. recovering from short- term infectious illnesses where quarantine or isolation has been necessary

  2. preparing for or recovering from some operations

  3. recovering from injuries where attendance might inhibit recovery (such as a fracture or head injury)

  4. where a pupil has been suspended

  5. where a pupil is attending part time by arrangement with school, parents and local authority

  6. for the first 5 days after a permanent exclusion

In these eventualities we will work with parents to provide suitable resources for the pupil to continue to learn, taking into account their ages, stage, needs, (including SEND) and home circumstances.

We will use a blended approach with Oak National Academy teaching materials (videos, slideshows and worksheets) which are engaging, high quality and 100% linked to the national curriculum and where appropriate White Rose Maths materials with teaching videos and worksheets. Resources such as pens, paper, paints, exercise books and reading books, etc will be provided according to need and by arrangement.

We encourage pupils to return their completed work to school where it can be marked and praise given.

If you are having technical difficulties we can support by email or over the phone.

We'll keep working together to ensure children keep learning. If you have any issues, get in touch with us at school and we will work it out together.
